Welcome to episode one of "who died this year". Fasten your seatbelts, it's quite a sonic trip.

Wally
Thanks Ben, a great way to remember some of the amazing talent we lost. I'm sure you will have them in later shows but I was saddened to lose some musicians I was quite fond of, like Pat Fish & Darrell Bath & Mike Nesmith

Ben Armstrong (host)
Hi Wally, yeah we'll have some Jazz Butcher coming up for sure. I read about Darrell Bath, but am not that familiar with the later period UK Subs. Wonder if you knew him for his work with Nikki Sudden and Dave Kusworth?

8:34 PM, December 18th, 2021
Chris.
Cool Shingoose track.

8:39 PM, December 18th, 2021
Wally
Yes I first heard Darrell when he worked with Nikki and Dave but he also released a few solo albums of which I have heard a few of them

8:43 PM, December 18th, 2021
Ben Armstrong (host)
Hi Chris. For sure, and it was great to see Shingoose / Curtis Jonnie (and others who were still alive) get some decades overdue recognition with the "Native North America" comp.

Also did you know that Paul Humphrey from the Toronto band Blue Peter passed away? I saw them support The Jam when they played in Ottawa in the 80's

8:59 PM, December 18th, 2021
Wally
Enjoying so many of the songs tonight, that Janet Lawson song was pretty cool 👌

9:09 PM, December 18th, 2021
Ben Armstrong (host)
Thanks Wally! Cool that you saw Blue Peter perform live. We'll hear from them in episode two...

I saw Chick Corea play at Barrymore's, I think when I was in my late teens. Don't recall how we got in. Maybe it was an all ages show. One of the first memorable jazz shows that left an impression decades later...

9:27 PM, December 18th, 2021
Wally
Yes seeing Chick Corea play live would be something to remember.

9:31 PM, December 18th, 2021
chris.
Wally, is that the same Paul Humphrey who led the Cool Aid Chemists?

9:36 PM, December 18th, 2021
Wally
Hi Chris, that was a different Paul Humphrey, the one in the Cool Aid Chemists was a bit older

Eeesh, another band that I saw at Barrymore's... Akron/Family. This is sad on many fronts. Our lack of good venues in Ottawa is depressing.
