On Friday Nov.9th 2012 Gord Walker speaks with James Henry about the impact of massive tax avoidance on the global economy and developing economies in particular.
Mr. Henry has written widely on capital flight, tax havens, debt, and corporate taxation. In a recent report he estimated that between US $21 to $32 trillion of global private financial wealth has been invested through the world’s secrecy jurisdictions. He believes that international action is necessary to curtail these financial outflows so that Southern countries can retain their own resources to invest in development and poverty eradication
Mr. Henry is a board member of the Global Tax Justice Network, an independent international alliance which works to encourage global and national tax reform through research, analysis and advocacy on tax regulation. They map, analyse and explain the role of taxation and the harmful global impacts of tax evasion, tax avoidance, tax competition and tax havens. See more information at: http://www.taxjustice.net
