On January 15th Gord Walker spoke with Joshua Gladstone about the impact of accelerating resource development in Baffin Island on native communities in Nunavut.
This Friday Gord speaks with Josh again to explore the extent to which First Nations communities are sharing or can hope to share in our economic gains from Canada's mineral and energy wealth.
Joshua is a doctoral candidate at Carleton and is researching human and political development in Canada’s northern communities . He is currently research assistant to Professor Frances Abele at carleton University on projects focused on the northern economy, responsible investing, and political communication in northern communities.
Before beginning his doctoral work, Joshua spent many years working and living in Nunavut as a geologist, civil servant and most recently as an advisor to Inuit organizations on land claims implementation.
