The music of musicians native to Louisiana is featured as Mardi Gras is observed Feb. 9 of this year. The music of The Meters, Allen Toussaint and Potliquor will be featured. Happy Fat Tuesday and eat all your pancakes.
Opening with some Louisiana rock and pop.In the 60's and 70's Williams formed a duo with Johnny "Guitar" Watson,Rose wrote comedy with George carlin in the early 60's before embarking on a career in music,and Doug Kershaw is known as "The Ragin' Cajun". |

Next up:Two pillars of modern New Orleans funk and soul, Allen Toussaint and The Meters.Toussaint produced regional New Orleans artists to great success-arranging,writing,on piano and producing many hits from the late 50's into the 70's before working with more mainstream acts like Little Feat,Robert Palmer,Labelle and many others. The Meters were his house band on most of Toussaint's 60's produced hits and sharpened 2nd line rhythms into New Orleans funk on a series of late 60's Toussaint produced singles.Toussaint released an excellent series of lp's in the early 70's.Allen Toussaint passed away Nov. 10,2015. |
