I had originally hoped to play a sampling of 2 new Chant Records albums (Midwood's 'Out of the Narrows' and Brett Higgins' Atlas Revolt), but my home computer picked the worst time to shuffle off this earthy coil, and I am bereft of both these releases until next Nightwatch. In the meantime, there's no lack of material!!
Starting out with 3 tracks from Chris Forsyth & Solar Motel Band's 2014 release, procured at the Community record show earlier this year! |
The Ballad of Freer Hollow Chris Forsyth & Solar Motel - Intensity Ghost |
I Ain't Waiting Chris Forsyth & Solar Motel - Intensity Ghost |
Intenisty Ghost Chris Forsyth & Solar Motel - Intensity Ghost |
Continuing on with some early guitar-psychedelia from one of the earlier practitioners of the genre caught live with some great guitar histrionics from John Cipollina, |
Calvary Quicksilver Messenger Service - Happy Trails |
April Mountain Christmas - Heritage |
A 2-track foray into the early-70's for ya... now back to things more recent... at least in this century! |
Four-oh-One Theme Nero - Soon |
Unicycle Silencer Three Mile Pilot - Nà Vuccà Dò Lupù |
Acid Cloud Part 2 Moths and Locusts - Intro/Outro |
One more track in the rock/psych/space vein (Spiral Realms featured 2 ex-Hawkwinders, Simon House and Del Dettmar, with Lend Del Rio from Pressurehed and Nik Turner's 90's touring band...)... then we make tracks towards jazz through a bit of weirdness from Fred Frith's early-80's solo LP. |
Interstellar Overdrive Spiral Realms - Solar Wind |
Sadness, its Bones Bleached Behind Us Fred Frith - Technology of Tears |
Somebody Else's World Sun Ra - My Brother the Wind |
The foray into jazz was to be able to play a track from this live 2xLP, a much-heralded classic (for good reason) that I found for a decent price recently! After that we roll back into the rock vein with some fusion! |
Wednesday Prayer Meeting Charles Mingus - Antibes 60 |
Dance of the Maya Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Mounting Flame |
Rituale Perigeo - Abbiamo tutti un blues da piangere |
Finishing up this Nightwatch back in the present-day (more-or-less) with a feature on a great ambient/kraut/jam/neo-psych band from the UK, Mugstar, and a few tracks from their 2016 LP 'Magnetic Seasons' |
Remember the Breathing Mugstar - Magnetic Seasons |
Regency Blues Mugstar - Magnetic Seasons |
Sky West and Crooked Mugstar - Magnetic Seasons |
Ascension Island Mugstar - Magnetic Seasons |
Great tunes tonight Dav! Glad I finally had a chance to tune in again
