Now onto the Merry Mack set, starting with Japanese psych band the Marble Sheep and their 2003 release. After which, Yoko Ono's 2007 effort, Larkin Grimm's 'Harpoon'. Then Some Great improv from Chris Corsano and Michael Flower, followed by some late-60's sessions from an embryonic Soft Machine. Finishing the set with Japanese psych monsters Acid Mother's Temple and a collaboration with Guru Guru's drummer, Mani Neumeier. Thank you, Lady Mary. |

Alas, I had to chop out some tunes in the show so that we could hear the entire final feature, making for an awkward stylistic leap - from jazz/fusion to psychedelic folk (if, indeed, that's what it is...), but it will be worth it. With thanks to the inestimable Bruce McEwen for favouring the Nightwatch with these songs, we have a chance to sample Julian Cope's latest. My favourite, the final track, rival's Arlo Guthrie's storytelling on 'Alice's Restaurant', albeit desperately drunk. Enjoy, and another Nightwatch will be rolling over the air/internet in 2 weeks' time! |
