The "I Can't See MAGMA at FIMAV, so I'm Going To Take it out on You" Special
Magma is a band that started in '69 and lasted until the early-80's... and then resurrected itself in the early 00's to much acclaim and success (at least more than they saw in the 70's). Progenitors of the ground-breaking 'Zeuhl' sound (mixing jazz, rock and opera, and creating it's own language to sing in) and fronted/composed by an incredible drummer. I first heard them in the mid-80's, and they became one of my favourite bands. The are finally appearing in close range (at the Victoriaville New Music Festival - FIMAV) tonight... but I am not able to go... so I play an overburden of their live material!
Starting with a few lesser-known version of some Magma favourites, like Jannick Top's tremendous 'De Futura'. |
De Futura Magma - Best on Tour 1976 |
Gamma Anteria Magma - Ihedits |
Now into the Gargantuan Trio of Kohtarosz/MDK /Theusz Haamtaahk, without which no Magma special would be complete! |
Kohntark Magma - Live |
Mekanik Destrukitiw Kommandoh Magma - Live Retrospective Vol 1 |
Theusz Haamtaahk Magma - Live Retrospective Vol 2 |
And finishing with a version of KA, which was written in the 70's but only released after the band reformed! |
K.A Magma - Live at Rennes 2004 |
Awesome show
