Tonight's Nightwatch is brought to you (at least the last 2 hours) by a pal named Bruce - he gave me access to a number of LPs I have long wanted... and now you, the Listener, can benefit from his selflessness!
Before we get to Bruce's offerings, a quick feature on an obscure piece of Krautriock history - Frumpy's 1st LP (released 1970)... |
Rosalie Frumpy - All Will Be Changed |
Baroque Frumpy - All Will Be Changed |
From one obscure krautrock LP to a classic - Amon Duul II's Yeti LP... and I think the time is ripe to play the title track!! |

Now we make a break for it... into someone else's record collection! As mentioned in the 'Introductory Remarks', Bruce McEwen gave me access to some LPs I have not been able to play for you... so my good fortune is yours! We start out with a look into a couple of Italian Prog-rock pieces. The first is obscure, a band called Area - they're counted amondg the ranks of Rock-In-Opposition, and definitely inhabited the edgier part of the Ital-prog landscape. Il Volo, not so muchj - definitely a classic there! |
Come Una Zanzara Il Volo - Il Volo |
Il Calore Umano Il Volo - Il Volo |
Now, to something a bit more current - at least it was recorded in the past 15 years. Djam Karet have been around since the late-80's, and 1999's Live at Orion is a great document of them in action! |
Technology And Industry Djam Karet - Live At Orion |
Forbidden By Rule Djam Karet - Live At Orion |
Province19 The Visage Of War Djam Karet - Live At Orion |
Run Cerberus Run Djam Karet - Live At Orion |
"So.." said Bruce "... you like Magma? Zeuhl, you say? If it's Zeuhl you wants, it's Zeuhl I gots...". The two releases played here parenthesize the 'classic era' of Zeuhl music, Zao's 'Osiris' from '74, and Eskaton's 'Ardeur' from 1980. |
Attente Eskaton - Ardeur |
Dagon Eskaton - Ardeur |
Eskaton Eskaton - Ardeur |
Shardaz Zao - Osiris |
Isis Zao - Osiris |
