A musical celebration of my brother's life... RIP Jeff, 1968 - 2012
Normally, I use this show to share a genre of music that is often ignored: those dusty and questionable CDs sitting in dollar bins by artists you and I may never have heard of before I spin them here. Today, I’m going to be putting aside the format of the show. Last summer, around this time, I did something similar when I was involved in the futile effort to save a young man who had just been struck by lightning – 10 metres from where me and my friends were camped. This year, I’m doing it because my brother just died by my side after a long fight with cancer. Now before you worry too much, I’ve approached the show as a musical celebration, not a sad moping. Moroseness is not my plan here by any means, and my brother would have had no patience for that sort of behaviour anyway. My brother Jeff William Botte was born October 22nd, 1968, died on August 4th, 2012, and is survived by his wife Sandy and his 11 year old daughter Hanna. During his life he saw a lot of live music performances, and music was such an important part of who he was. All over North America, he saw everything from great local acts in small venues to huge international stars performing at stadiums. I am going to play some of the stuff he talked about having heard. In deference to those who tune in regularly to the show and enjoy the format, I will try to play tracks that haven’t been and aren’t still being played in excess on the radio, so I do hope you enjoy the selections and join in me celebrating my brother’s life.

Hi! I tuned in about 5 minutes ago. My condolences about the loss of your brother. I'd be hard-pressed to believe *anyone* would resent you changing the format of your show for this.
