The Passionate Friar
Monday March 5th, 2012 with Phelonius Friar
All non-English tracks for a global jaunt
The first track I picked for the show was from a Hong Kong album by Hong-ying Huang, and was the last track I played on the show. Picking that track and trying to fit it in gave me the idea of doing a whole show without any English songs in it at all. This allowed me to dust off some of the further corners of my dollar bin collection (yes, everything I play is from my personal collection of CDs I purchaged for $3 or less, and is spun live in the studio) and pull out the likes of Sigur Ros and Stoa. With some ecclectic and some pop, the show was designed to be accessible no matter what languages were understood... well, except perhaps the language of music.
