What is it about the German language that makes so many artists do versions of their English albums in that language?

I think it's the "Life is short, so tell someone today that you love them; but shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing" effect. Germany is also a huge market for music, so it makes sense from a career perspective as well I guess.
