Spotlight on George Sapounidis' album of Greek and Chinese music!

Today's show featured a spotlight on George Sapounidis' album "George from Athens to Beijing". George is a Montrealer of Greek heritage, and a fine bouzouki player, who decided he would try to get invited to both the Athens olympics in 2004 and the Beijing olympics in 2008 as a musician. He learned to write songs and sing in Chinese (a bit of a stretch) and Greek (less of a stretch) and his journey was documented in the movie "Chairman George". These songs were all featured in that documentary. And yes, I spun both his Greek and Chinese songs... which vary from whimsical and carefree to sublime and emotionally charged (the jam he recorded live on The Great Wall is heartbreaking). Sandwiching George on either end will be Orange Galaxy laying down some techno beatboxing on their way to the bowling alley, and Mimosa sliding us some jazz-inspired toe tapping, hip shaking fun!
