Songs from the last batch of CDs to be given away from this year's funding drive
The 6 CDs I played today were selected because I was about to give them away to one of the show's listeners that contributed to CKCU during the 2012 funding drive. I realized as I was listening to them that certain songs on the Tori Amos album in particular were a little too close to events in the news (for posterity purposes, I am referring to the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut). In the end, I chose to play one of the songs that related to gun violence, but did not play the other (I Don't Like Mondays). The phone didn't ring so either nobody was listening or nobody minded. The rest of the show was definitely not quite as heavy as the first song. Okay, maybe Redemption Day ;).
