Swing Is In The Air
Sunday August 18th, 2024 with Paul Campbell
All about Bass

Swing in the Air is the home of Lindy and the Bat (tune to hear the story) Tuba Skinny is a New Orleans based street band. For the past 15 years they have been bringing their early 20th century American music to their ever growing audience all around the world. Frequently appearing in festivals around New Orleans, and throughout Europe in the summer time. ==== Charles Mingus Jr. (April 22, 1922 – January 5, 1979) was an American jazz upright bassist, composer, bandleader, pianist, and author. A major proponent of collective improvisation, he is considered one of the greatest jazz musicians and composers in history, with a career spanning three decades and collaborations with other jazz greats such as Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Max Roach, and Eric Dolphy. ==== The Jen Hodge All Stars were formed for a one-off gig Jen had on her birthday in November of 2010. Shortly thereafter, they found themselves with a regular gig at a delightfully debaucherous haunt by the name of Guilt & Company, located in Vancouver’s historic Gastown district.

What a great tribute to my favourite instrument for innovation.......The Bass!! It has carried every memorable and spine tingling song in my life. There would not be the word, "Groove" without the bass. Thank you Paul for this fantastic concept show this weekend!! I would have signed The Dancing Labrador up for dance lessons with you.........what a promo that would be lol......if I had known sooner, but his legs just won't hold up these days. He does still dance a little with me in the kitchen.

Yup....I am here every 2 weeks for your stories, Paul. You never disappoint. The "Bat Story" could be a movie. The music is secondary...............the dancing is mandatory!! Thank you for doing this Sunday "must be there" show every 2 weeks!!
