IAN HUTCHISON plays swing music for swing dancers. He is a bass player, bandleader, swing dancer, swing DJ, and educator based in New York City. He has played with a literal who's who in the swing dance world including Naomi Uyama, Jonathan Stout, Gordon Webster, Eyal Vilner, and Glenn Crytzer. Ian is currently a member of the hit touring lindy hop theater show SW!NG OUT.

Ella Fitzgerald, the First Lady of Song, the Queen of Jazz, barely needs any introduction. Born on April 25, 1916, Ella's singing career spanned almost sixty years, with her last public performance in 1993. Her accolades included 14 Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Arts, the NAACP's inaugural President's Award, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
We will be listening primarily to selections from her Songbook sets, in particular Cole Porter and Duke Ellington, with a few choice pieces from other recordings as appropriate.
