Most of Duke Ellington’s best-known compositions were recorded between 1926 and the early 1950’s (and most before the end of WW II). Consequently, his later career has not received the attention it merits. In this program, in our modest, 93.1FM-ish way, we begin to redress the imbalance. Tracks recorded 1959-1973. Mostly with the Orchestra, including several albums written as suites, and also a piano/bass duo, two piano trios, and a piano/guitar quartet.
