Swing Is In The Air
Sunday June 28th, 2015 with Ralph Hopper
Cory Weeds, Maria Schneider Orchestra, Tony Williams

I’ll be airing 3 sets of great jazz starting with a new CD issued by Cellar Live featuring Cory Weeds and music associated with Jackie McLean. Then we’ll hear a set of big band music from the brand new release by the Maria Schneider Orchestra. The final set is from a Mosaic box set of drummer Tony Williams and a 1985 recording on Blue Note. It should be a great show.

Snarky Puppy was indeed FANTASTIC last night! Sound balance, and sound quality in general, was quite good for me. But then, I was really close to stage, in sound apex.

Overall, JazzFest is well ahead of the other big Fests in town these days. Sound wise for sure. Also just organizationally. And. Don't even get me started on the bass-set-to-13 and everything else set-to-11 BoozeFest "sound"!! I have almost completely given up on that one, most unfortunately. Used to be an excellent event. >:/
