Greetings, Earthlings, and happy Thanksgiving!

PeterB
Juicy start, for sure. "Kama Twist Dada" (?) Reminds of sailing in a big but steady breeze, organized long waves, right down the middle of the groove. Moving, smooth, everything goes quiet. Looking forward to seeing what your "greatest near misses of all times" would be. Will be in and out 'live' today, but catch whatever via OnDement time travel.

Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Hey PeterB! Lots you'll like to come, including some tasty Brian Eno in celebration of the Eno doc we both caught last week.

What’s the frequency Kenneth?

Now resorting to online, because off-air just went <phut>.

1:38 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Yikes! Folks, we obviously just fell off of the airwaves. All I can hear in the studio is static, so I can't even talk right now. I'm just gonna keep playing music until this resolves itself!

1:40 PM, October 13th, 2024
Benoît
Gee, and now an online problem Cue *So Hard Done By*, from Gord and the Hip! ;-s)

1:45 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
yeah, dunno what's happening. We seem to be back on air, with an Ali Farka Toure song, but I'm not playing it!

1:49 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Huh. I'm back, apparently. Crazy ride, folks!

1:49 PM, October 13th, 2024
Benoît
I suspect the Ali Farka Toure must have been on the "emergency music" source -- don't know what it is, but it does exist; it comes on auto after a number of seconds of dead studio to air, or something close to that.

1:59 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Yep, I think so to. Lucky me it was some world music, so it fit right in. There's work going on with our transmitter at Camp Fortune, so the outage was probably related to that. The good news is that once they're done, the Mighty 93 will sound better than ever!

A little pronunciation thing: Lhasa is pronounced "lassa", very simply. Lhasa de Sela was a big fave of mine. Her last album came out in maybe the Spring 2009, and I waited for the usual backup tour; she ended up dying the following 1st Jan., and I was truly sorry. She was *special*. Unique.

2:24 PM, October 13th, 2024
Benoît
And El Desierto (The desert) is a kickass song. What emotion in the voice!

2:25 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Thanks for the assistance, Benoît! She had an amazing voice, and I only found out today that she had died.

Bobby Calzone
Eno doc???

2:32 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Oh Bobby! One night only last week at the Bytowne. It's an experimental "generative" documentary, different each showing. It's all the rage, man!

2:34 PM, October 13th, 2024
Bobby Calzone
Oh, I knew about it, I've known about it for àa while. Im à huge Brian Eno fan. Didnt know it was out. Will stream online. Thanks guys!

2:39 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Don't think it's online anywhere I've looked, but if you find it let me know! Got a little Eno set coming up in celebration!

2:40 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
...comin' right up: the next three songs!

2:41 PM, October 13th, 2024
PB
... don't get me RAVING on how fantastic the ENO "film", or "documentary" was/is/will be. Definitely not either film or doc as we know them. Fascinating. ... was high as hell after (no, not chemically induced) ... i am still flipped out ... Really, really hop it makes another pass. But I DO understand the art house value of this is IT, the only one of 52 quintillion possible variations that you will ever see.

2:59 PM, October 13th, 2024
PB
I doubt Eno will stream. Don't even know how it could, since it is generated each time.

3:01 PM, October 13th, 2024
PB (took the bait)
(You just knew this was PBait, right Rob ? ;^)

3:02 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Yeah, PB, Eno hit you right last week. I'm also hoping it'll come back, but I'm also hoping for some kinda online release that'll let you dial up a new version anytime you like.

3:02 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
And yes, I knew you'd take the bait!

3:03 PM, October 13th, 2024
PB (who will attempt Rant Off, maybe)
Yeah, can see how "online" could work pretty well. But would not have the communal *gasp* of witnessing in an art house real theater. "Stream", to me, implies one source dolled out many, so that simply can't be so here. (... oh yeah look! there's another tasty worm! ...)

3:10 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Heh. I dunno man: Hustwit somehow developed the software to generate it, so why couldn't it be generated online?

3:12 PM, October 13th, 2024

Simply superb, Rob !! Busy doing harvest outside but popped in to say I am listening and to say I am dropping $40 on Island Earth for Funding Drive but wanted you to know you are my hero on this show and it is largely in your honour, man !!

Thank you, Mr. DJ !

Hey rping! Good to have you on board, as always. And Neil & DL, thanks a million for your continued support! Glad I could provide the soundtrack to your harvest!!

Dynamics blew my mind, just as good as Zeppelin live in Ottawa on that tour!! Trivia.........Zeppelin played live at the British Hotel in Aylmer, QC when they started out Happy Thanksgiving Rob......gobble, gobble and to all Island fans out there in Radioland!!

3:24 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Right on, Neil and the same happy Thanksgiving back at you and your dancing Labrador!

3:26 PM, October 13th, 2024
Dave JC
Damn, missed the Eno doc, shame. Grt programme Rob. Love the reggae/dub versions and much more. I think a few radio stations use the Camp Fortune aerial.

3:26 PM, October 13th, 2024
Dave JC.
Or transmitter.

3:27 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Yep, you're right, Dave JC: I think even the CBC uses it. Glad you're enjoying the show. I'm sure the Eno will be back. Looked like a pretty full house that night: more Eno fans in the area than I expected!

3:30 PM, October 13th, 2024
Dave JC.
Oh, wow, amazing.

3:32 PM, October 13th, 2024
Dave JC.
I knew nothing about the film until mentioned here, and looked it up, so PB is of course right that I may be difficult to get on line as Wiki states: "The film uses a computer program to select footage and edit the film so that a different version is shown each time it is screened." So, according to the NY Times' estimate, there is a 52 quintillion possible versions of the film.

3:40 PM, October 13th, 2024
Dave JC
Sorry, I'm repeating. I'm just annoyed I missed it and hoping comes round again soon.

3:42 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Oh, I hear you DJC: I was thrilled that it came here at all. Up until last week, it was only at special showings at selected spots 'round the world for one-night only showings. Last week was the first wider release to various art-house cinemas. I'm sure it wall come around again soon!

3:45 PM, October 13th, 2024
Bobby Calzone
Well, I have Eno's 77 million paintings program on my computer which regenerates completely indefinitely music and images. Amd thatbwas a while back. I think they will do the same with the film. Probably still have to Iron out kinks, Technical and financial... I cant go to à theater, I have trouble enough going down the 18 stairs her in the country :)

3:45 PM, October 13th, 2024
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Yeah, I had a couple of apps of his that would generate music in much the same way. I'm sure they're cookin' up some method like the 77 Million Paintings to do a release you can watch on demand/at home.
