Mink's the BEST, N & DL. Don't often play the stuff on the show (although I played Willie DeVille's mariachi version of Hey Joe about a year ago). Most of Mink Deville doesn't fit our "world" format too well, but these two upcoming songs have some worldly textures to 'em, so I decided that they'd work.

Yeah, Malcolm McLaren 'Fans' (1984) also a very worthy play. Operatic yet trip-hoppy (before that term even existed). Totally different from 'Duck Rock' (1983). Sayin' Re 'Paris' from Toronto Star review: "... the grand swindler McLaren serves up a rakish and compelling listen."

I'd say rakish and compelling is just about right for Paris. And in a very Malcolm McLaren kind of way, it steals from French, North African, Turkish, jazz and dance music and stirs it all into a very tasty stew. Stand by, it's coming up right after these two Mink Deville songs.
