Hi Rob—broadcasting live agin! Yay! I’m tuned in this afternoon. Funny enough, I became aware of Pharoah Sanders’ music through listening to This Island Earth. Looking forward to hearing this tribute.

Hey Shelley Ann! Yeah, we've played a ton of his music here over the years. It's a perfect fit for the show, with his fusion of jazz with African, Asian and other cultures.

Nice to have you in, DD. Couldn't agree more: Never enough Pharoah!

Solid start and looking forward to the ride with Pharoah! I'm going to do part or kost opf next week's show with a different take on Pharoah...songs featuring Pharoah but not from a Pharoah album.

Hey Manmohan! Great idea! I'll be listening, to be sure. Never enough Pharoah!

...that'd be Cecil McBee on bass for Thembi, to answer the question I just asked myself on air. He goes full-on Eddie Van Halen in this. It's great!

Yeah! RIP Pharoah Sanders A big loss in this dimension. We could all aspire to meet you an alternate Astral Plane. Thank you for the dive ... even if inevitably shallow compared to his INCREDIBLE body of work. One of my faves is with Alice Coltrain ''Journey in Satchidananda".... ABSOLUTE SPIRITUAL GOB SMACKER MASTERPIECE.

"Let us go into the house of the lord" was incredible. I also think Pharoah playing "A love Supreme" 5 years before was necessary for this.

For sure, David. It's an amazing number, and no doubt Pharoah would have been a different player if it weren't for the time with Coltrane.

Shelley Ann, there's a cool video on YouTube of Kazuko played in a very resonant tunnel, just Pharoah and a harmonium player. Well worth a listen. Manmohan was just checking it out the other day.
