This Island Earth
Sunday June 7th, 2020 with Rob Bitschofsky
Some new releases, some new old (or is it old new?) minimalism from Glass and Reich, some dubby electronic sounds. Some groovy jazz. You know; the usual!

Broadcasting nearly kind of live. Which is to say, not live. Recorded. At my house. Yesterday. Special shout-out to the memory of long-time listener Levi the cat, who has passed through to the next cat realm. Happy hereafter mousing, Levi!

What is your favourite pie

1:53 PM, June 7th, 2020
David Dalle (host)
Edifanko is pretty catchy stuff

Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Well, now, Shubham, I'm not sure that I have a favourite pie. I like all the pies. Maybe a fresh Ontario blueberry pie that you pick up directly from the farmer at the side of a secondary highway in the high summertime. That's good pie.

Hey David. Yeah, they're catchy. Can't hear any Eno in there, though!

Hi Rob, Listening in on this beautiful day. Unfortunately T.I.E. Lost a faithful four-legged friend; Levi the Cool Cat lost his battle with feline diabetes. He spent hours listening to CKCU. R.I.P. Levi. My girl cat Clarice (and me) are enjoying the eclectic and fresh-sounding vibes for a beautiful day.

Hi Shelly! Yes, I'm sad about Levi, and my condolences to you. See my note at the top of the show: today's music is dedicated to his memory! He will be missed!

Purveyors of global grooves and pie fantasies, at your service, enbee.

Mmmm. Chicago covers.

2:36 PM, June 7th, 2020
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
And yes, Chicago covers! Well, only one, actually.

2:37 PM, June 7th, 2020

Oh my goodness—where else but on CKCU will you have a show dedicated to a four-legged companion. I must have told you about his passing already—I can’t remember what day it is! Thank you soooo much. I really appreciate the kind words and thoughts. Again, part of this on-air family, pandemic or not.

Well Levi had big ears. Figuratively speaking.

Listening in only intermittently while doing some chores and a bike ride. (Gosh, "chores" on TIE aft ... S.A.M. wise. OOPS, broke my own rules. ;^) Plenty of grooves and unusual sounds to get a cat out from under the couch. Wouldya get get back to that Easy Listening crap soon please?! q^) RIP Levi. Meow man, meow.

Rob Bitschofsky (host)
No easy listening today, Peebee. The next bit is all hardcore golden-age minimalism, followed by a brief trip to Bali.

For the record, on pies. i like them decidedly anti-sweet. i know my mileage may vary from most others. My Ma used to make a "cottage" rhubarb/wild strawberry pie -- no sugar at all, real lard. Yer tongue would be dry for about 2 days, and cheeks sore from the pucker. BUT holy cow!!

3:13 PM, June 7th, 2020
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
hmmm. So was it pie? Or was it TART???

3:14 PM, June 7th, 2020
sugar glenn
qc sugar...o ya! A minimalist thanks for the show!

3:20 PM, June 7th, 2020
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Hey Sugar Glenn! Always a pleasure to serve up some minimalism! And to foster the pie/sweetness debate...

S.A.M.
Clarice is enjoying this very calm, minimalist music. thanks again for thinking of Mr. Levi.

3:28 PM, June 7th, 2020
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Clarice has such great taste! This is good cat music. Losing a pet is so hard, Shelly Ann. If my little pal Oswald...well, I don't even like to think about it.
