This Island Earth
Sunday May 10th, 2020 with Rob Bitschofsky
Some new releases, some Malcolm McLaren, some Peter Murphy, some good ol' German prog and an amazing, shambolic (and Canadian!) performance of In C.

Another episode of This (Kitchen) Island Earth, recorded on my kitchen island. Get it? Oh, never mind. Anyway, that's Oswald in the picture. Listen for his special guest appearance!

Hey y'all. The show's not live, but I'm in the house here for correspondence, love letters, food advice, shopping tips and so on. Hope you enjoy today's music!

Cool! See Malcolm McLaren coming up (RIP 1946-Jan-22 -- 2010-Apr-08, 64). AMAZING body of creativity and exploration!! New York Dolls, Sex Pistols, Bow Wow Wow, Supreme Team, Adam And The Ants, Madame Butterfly ... and on and on.... Never heard the 'Paris 'thing before. But just what could go wrong with Catherine Deneuve + Malcolm?!

Hey guys! PB, Paris is one of my all-time favourite records. If you seek it out, look for the version with the second disc of instrumental mixes. Brilliant

...and yeah, some World's Famous Supreme Team coming up!

Crap. Off to do some chores -- OnDement later. But there definitely could be some Malcolm featured on an upcoming Loosely Connected mis-adventure!

Off you go, then. But there's also a fresh new Malcolm McLaren biography out, in case you're interested. Reason I'm playing a few of his cuts today.

Hi Shubham. This one's Peter Murphy's Time Has Got Nothing to Do With It. An old favourite of mine. Up next are a couple from him with heavy Turkish influence, from his 2002 album, Dust.

What is your favourite drink

2:19 PM, May 10th, 2020
Rob Bitschofsky (host)
Hmmmm. Too many to claim a favourite, Shubham. But what I'm drinking right this minute is a Pink 75. It's a variation on the French 75. A French 75 is Gin, lemon juice, sugar and champagne or white sparkling wine. Mine has a pink Cremant d'Alsace rather than a white sparkling, so: Pink 75. Delicious!* *If you are over the legal drinking age in your area and are not pregnant. Please consume responsibly.

Well, now, Shubham, I can't reveal the exact date here in this public forum, for fear that unscrupulous Internet shysters will attempt to steal my identity. However, I can tell you that it is only days away, and that I am exceptionally old.

Hello Rob, Good to hear the sound of normal once again on a Sunday afternoon. I’d never heard Autobahn In its entirety—yes, still sounds minty fresh to me, too. BTW, cats welcome—crying, yowling, purring, meowing or whatever cats do—my two, Levi and Clarice would agree. So good to hear TIE back on the air.

I’m drinking sparkly water. now, if it were a few degrees WARMER I’d be listening outside (complain, complain). The music is good though.

Robert P and Shelly Ann! Thanks for listening. Very nice to have you both along for the ride. Shelly, I bet Levi and Clarice could hear Ozzy in the background, yowling as I was talking. It's low in the mix, but he's there. And yeah, it seems criminal that we can't be outside comfortably when it's the MIDDLE OF MAY!

CATS! Clarice has figured out that when I’m talking into that big, funny square thing (my iPad) she liked to get into the act—she knows when I’m on Zoom and parades in front of the camera—what a ham! Thanks to Jeff Larocque we did get an episode of Welcome To My World on the air. Now, I want to learn how we can do WTMW from outside the studio. I’m SURE we can do this.

Yup. Oz likes to come sit on the keyboard of my laptop whenever I'm working on something. He likes to help. You CAN do your show remotely. It's taken us over here at This Island Earth a while to work it out, and we're not all producing shows even now. There were challenges and headaches and some equipment to buy online and so on, but once it's all lined up, it's great. Very rewarding, and nice to be back on the air. It's a different set of challenges versus live broadcasts, but in the end, I'm finding it just as fun.
