Now for some French language music. We dip back into "Nova la Nuit for one more track, featuring the French avant-garde vocalist Brigitte Fontaine. Then we check out another treat, a second new compilation called "Par les damné.e.s de la terre," featuring French music of resistance from all over the globe. AS noted by the title of the compilation, the curator was inspired by the great theorist/radical from Martinique, Franz Fanon and his epic book, "The Wretched of the Earth." We start with this compilation with the Quebecois duo, poet Claude Péloquin and electronic wizard Jean Sauvageau. I love this track! |

The Kenyan vocalist and nyatiti (plucked lyre) musician, Ayub Ogada, sadly passed away on Feb.1. I only recently learned of his passing and will spin a couple of cuts from his most recent recording, with guitarist Trevor Warren. It's a fine album with Ayubs's trademark soulful vocals. |
