Groovy New Releases from all Over the Globe!

Welcome to another addition of THIS ISLAND EARTH, CKCU's weekly program (Sunday 1-4 pm) dedicated to great music from all over the globe. Thisweek we feature mainly new releases that have caught me ear and we'll start off with a great collaboration effort between Tony Allen and a group of Haitian ensemble followed by the legendary funk/free jazz outfit, The Pyramids. From there we meander off to various other reaches of the globe, including Tanzania, Italy, Pakistan, Ukraine, Hungary, Cabo Verde, Brazil, Cameroon, Portugal, Norway, Spain, Romania, Niger, Iran, and more . Please drop me a line if you have any questions or comments!

Hi Peter! Long time no chat. I wish I knew. It came on presumably because I was having a brain malfunction and forgot how to use the mixing board and there was dead air - dead air results in default music coming on and I'm not sure where it comes from. I love Pharoah as well. I'll try and get some on near the end of the show. If I figure out which track that was I will let you know.

Hey Man' ... just tuning in and catching up after a lovely bike rise. Looks like plenty o' new grooviness! Only thing I hate about CKCU is I always have to go digging around on the new stuff, and associated wallet stress. q;^) Ooooh, tubas on now.

Oh! And the default music is performed live by elves that inhabit the transmitter. Because I'm sure curious minds wanted to know...
