This afternoon we begin with a hommage to the late great Bazilian percussionist/vocalist, Naná Vasconcelos, who passed away on March 9, 2016 - just over a week ago. We will hear from various of his recordings over the last few decades, whether it be as a solo artist, bandleader or as a collaborator. Following that, we feature some new releases from Mauritius, Somaliland, the Middle East, Dominican Republic, South Asia, the Balkans, Italy, Bulgaria and Finland.
