Funding Drive Thank You and Reflection on Global Events

Welcome to THIS ISLAND EARTH, CKCU's weekly program featuring music from all over the globe. Stick around for three hours of sublime, weird, catchy, and moving tracks from far reaching places around the world, with a bit of new and a bit of old. Thanks to all donors who generously contributed financially during the last few weeks to keep our station alive. We met our goal of raising $135 000. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This week we reflect on the global issues facing us...we start with music from France, Lebanon, and Mali.

Love that Juju Orchestra's "This Is Not A Tango". Awesome driving music out on the highway, and especially dancing too.

Manmohan, I am having a great time,it is kind of an educational experience about musical genres all over the world. And especially with latin music that always puts me on a dancing mood.

Hi Manmohan, Nice to have finally met you at the CKCU birthday party last week. I have just tuned in and really liking this classical-inspired world music. Just perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

I actually think his latest album is possibly his best yet (though they range from excellent to superb) :)

Dave, ror Brahem, I think nothing touches Thimar. I find the latest release to be uneven...maybe a single album rather than a double would elevate it.
