Nicholas Williams & Alex Kehler in Concert Friday, June 6, 7:30pm Southminster United Church 15 Aylmer Ave. Alex Kehler and Nicholas Williams play music that draws from Scandinavian and Celtic traditions, with occasional forays into Québec and the Appalachian mountains. They bring to their concerts a wide and colourful array of instruments : Nyckelharpa, wooden flutes, fiddle, accordion, octave mandolin, and piano. Their finely crafted instrumental arrangements are complimented by rich vocal harmonies, with songs in English and in French. Travelling Tent Show: Life in the War Years - 1914-1918 May 30 7:00pm at the Billings Estate National Historic Site Hear about animal heroes, a woman's broken heart, enemy aliens in Ottawa, humour in the trenches. You'll hear touching and humourous anecdotes of lives of Ottawa residents as well as wonderful toe-tapping songs of the era such as - "Oh What a Lovely War", Oh How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning", "Take Your Girl Out to the Rink", and "Keep the Home Fires Burning". Singers include CKCU's own Chris White, Susan Sweeney Hermon of Acacia Lyra, Neville Miller, David Baril, and Rodney Norman.
