This is perhaps the only song in the history of Hindi cinema where Asha Ji didn’t sing any lyrics, but simply gave an exquisite *humming*. S. D. Burman offered the song to both Kishore Kumar and Asha Ji, but there was not a single line for her to sing, just a hum. Asha Ji was initially upset, wondering why she was called for this. S. D. Burman explained, “This song is extraordinary, and only you can bring out its essence with your humming.” After listening to the song, you’ll understand why he said this. “Emotions don’t need words.
