Sunday February 10th, 2019 with Dr. Harsha V. Dehejia and Kishore "Kish" Sampat
An Indian Morning celebrates not only the music of India but equally its various arts and artisans, poets and potters, kings and patriots. The first 30 minutes of the program features classical, religious as well as regional and popular music. The second

An Indian Morning first went on the air on Diwali day October 20,1973 on radio station CHCH, 91.4FM in Hull, Quebec. It was the first radio program in the Ottawa area and it was enthusiastically received. After a few months on this French station it shifted to CJET 101.1 FM in Smiths Falls, and when Radio Carleton CKCU FM went on air in 1975 (November 14, 1975), An Indian Morning was the first specialty program on that station and it has stayed there since then. Our first sponsor was Mr. Hari Dilawari. Were it not for his encouragement we could not have surfaced. Another person who stood behind us was George Kallumkal, who led us through the maze of wires and tape recorders and ensured that we had a good sound. An Indian Morning celebrates not only the music of India but equally its various arts and artisans, poets and potters, kings and patriots. The first 30 minutes of the program features classical, religious as well as regional and popular music. The second one hour features community announcements and ear pleasing music from old/new & popular Indian films. The ethos of the program is summarized by its signature closing line, "Seeking the spirit of India, Jai Hind". HAPPY VASANT/BASANT PANCHAMI! Vasant Panchami is widely and fervently celebrated all over India as the day on which Lord Bramha created Goddess Saraswati, who is the bestower of speech, eloquence, artistic and fine art skills to all living beings, besides blessing us with qualities of wisdom, knowledge, and concentration as well. 01-IMPORTANCE OF BASANT PANCHAMI CD MISC-20190203 TRACK#01 2:56 SHEMAROO BHAKTI-2018L ANSHU KUMARI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GX27LyoLKlA 02-MAA SARASWATI SHARDE CD MISC-20190203 TRACK#01 5:40 SARASWATI VANDANA-2013; KUMAR ESHWARI, PANDIT, KUMAR SHEHA SURESH, KUMAR ANKIT JOSHI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38itdbwXml4 एक बार फिर हार्दिक अभिनंदन आप सबका, शुक्रिया, घन्यावाद और Thank You इस प्रोग्राम को सुनने के लिए। 03-LO PHIR BASANT AAYI CD MISC-20190210 TRACK#03 6:14 BASANT RITU-1993; MALIKA PUKHRAJ & TAHIRA SYED https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOAhkm5DIaI SAANWLE SALONE AAYE DIN BAHAAR KE (EK HI RAASTA, 1956): For me, this is the quintessential spring song. Everything about it is so completely evokes the essence of spring: the music is frothy and light, the picturization - a little family off for a picnic, cycling through pretty countryside—and, most importantly, the lyrics. Lyrics which talk of buds blooming, of a koel calling by the riverside. Of a papiha, of clouds. Or flower-filled gardens. Of spring and joy and love. 04-SAANWLE SALONE AAYE DIN BAHAAR KE CD MISC-20190210 TRACK#04 3:40 EK HI RAASTA-1956; HEMANT KUMAR, LATA MANGESHKAR; HEMANT KUMAR; MAJROOH SULTANPURI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n5dL4py0As SANG BASANTI ANG BASANTI This is another old Bollywood hit on Basant Panchami festival from movie Raja Aur Runk. This is actually a dance song of old times and was very popular among youth. The movie was released in 1968, under the direction of Kotayya Pratyagatma. Talking about the leading star cast, Sanjeev Kumar, Kumkum, Ajit and Nirupa Roy were in lead role. This beautiful composition of Laxmikant Pyarelal was sung by three legendary singers Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, & Manna Dey. 05-SANG BASANTI ANG BASANTI CD MISC-20190210 TRACK#05 5:16 RAJA AUR RUNK-1968; MOHAMMAD RAFI, LATA MANGESHKAR, MANNA DEY; LAXMIKANT-PYARELAL; ANAND BAKSHI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGvxrCiE028 When someone says Bollywood and Sarson Ke Khet (mustard fields), the one picture that comes to our mind is the all-time favourite song ‘Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam’ from the iconic movie ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (DDLJ). The still shots from the field, the bell hung around the cow’s neck, blowing winds, Shah Rukh Khan with his signature open arm pose and Kajol running straight to his arms, is just pure bliss. And the song continues ‘Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh….’ We just can’t get over the song, scene, sarson ke khet, and the movie even after two decades. We all have grown up watching DDLJ and secretly dreaming about our romantic vacation. All the point of taking you to Punjab’s field is the arrival of the spring season. On the occasion of Vasant Panchami, we bring to you some Bollywood songs that beautifully showcase bright yellow mustard flowers in the Indian fields. This has to be on number one in the list. ‘Tujhe dekha toh jaana sanam..’ is sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kumar Sanu. Anand Bakshi won the Filmfare award for the best lyricist. Well, the famous pigeon-feeding scene between Amrish Puri and Shah Rukh Khan was also shot in the fields. 06-TUJHE DEKHA TO YE JANA SANAM CD MISC-20190210 TRACK#06 5:10 DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE-1995; LATA MANGESHKAR, KUMAR SANU; JATIN-LALIT; ANAND BAKSHI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3q6OZbjgKU 07-YEH MAUSAM KA JADOO HAI MITWA CD MISC-20190210 TRACK#07 4:44 HUM AAPKE HAI KAUN-1994; LATA MANGESHKAR, S. The voices of Asha Bhosle, Shamshad Begum & Manna Dey did magic in this soundtrack. The song was released in 1967 and is still counted as the best song for Basant Panchami. This was actually an initiative by actor Manoj Kumar to whom Prime Minister Late Sh. Lal Bahadur Shashtri requested for making a movie on farmers. After successfully releasing Shaheed movie, this was also a massive hit on Indian cinema. 08-AAYEE ZHOOM KE BASANT CD MISC-20190210 TRACK#08 7:23 UPKAR-1967; ASHA BHOSLE, SHAMSHAD BEGUM, MANNA DEY, MAHENDRA KAPOOR; KALYANJI-ANANDJI; PREM DHAWAN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M8J56do47Q 09-AISA DES HAI MERA CD MISC-20190210 TRACK#09 6:53 VEER ZAARA-2004; LATA MANGESHKAR, UDIT NARAYAN, GURDAS MAAN, PRITHA MAZUMDAR; LATE MADAN MOHAN; JAVED AKHTAR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kGIIRUIRbQ THE END समाप्त
