Celebrating and recounting some great live shows in Ottawa this past week (Spoon, CityFolk, Jeremy Dutcher) and a tribute to my Dad on what would have been his 102 birthday today. Love you Dad
We open the show tonight, with me still resonating from seeing Spoon last Wednesday night at the Bronson Centre. It was one of the finest rock shows I've seen in many years. So we open playing some songs from that concert - including two great covers. Then we spin music from Explosions In The Sky and Alejandro Escovedo who put on great shows at CityFolk.
The second hour features some great music and a tribute to my Dad. He would was born in 1922 and so it's the 102nd anniversary of his birth. He introduced me to a lot of great music - including the works of Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Dvorak - and for that I am eternally grateful. Thanks Dad and happy birthday wherever you are!
