We open with some songs about the night time... moody and dark. Next up some songs that tap into ideas about our mental health and takin care of ourselves and taking care of each other during challenging times. Finally we listen to some music by three amazing women who I am going to see in concert in the coming weeks: Lisa O'Neill, Jane Siberry and Lori McKenna. Lisa O'Neill is appearing in Ottawa at Red Bird Live on Tuesday, July 15th. She is a stunning singer-songwriter from Ireland who has been recording music since 2009, but is reaching more people with her new album All Of This Is Chance - the finest album of 2023 so far. She is a rare gem. Speaking to her this week, I was struck by how thoughtful and literate she is. She is so connected to her culture and the natural world. Her world view is refreshing and some might say simple but I would counter that she has a deep understanding of how things work. Her songs have been an inspiration to me for decades and it is always a pleasure to see Jane in concert. She is appearing at the National Arts Centre in the Azrieli Studio this Saturday, July 19th.
