All local independent artists on the show today because Bandcamp Friday is coming on Friday July 3. Bandcamp will waive all artist fees so if you buy any music from Bandcamp this Friday all proceeds go to the artists.

It's all local/regional music tonight and all indie artists. This is a great showcase of some fantastic local music - but it doesn't cover the whole scene by any stretch... just some great artists that I know and enjoy. The tip of the local music iceberg I guess. We're doing this tonight because on Friday, July 3 the Bandcamp website is again waiving fees that are usually charged to artists when we download or order music (or merchandise) from the site. It's Bandcamp's way of supporting artists directly during the COVID pandemic lockdown. And it's an opportunity for you to put some money into the pockets of artists you love. We hope the show introduces you to some great music you might never have heard of before... or it reminds you of some great local artists to support. The lockdown is having a major impact on musical artists as they cannot perform live and tour. In the age of streaming, performing live is an even more important revenue source for artists and they are now cut off from this revenue stream. Keep in mind that your streaming service pays independent artists VERY little for the monthly streaming of their songs/musical pieces. Artists with millions of streams monthly receive decent streaming revenues. But even with streams in the tens of thousands, most indie artists are paid very little by Spotify, Apple, Amazon etc. In the past people would have purchased songs or albums by these artists but now they pay a very low monthly streaming fee and think they are supporting their fav artsits... but in reality they are not supporting the acts at all.
