The driving's safety, in the Laurentians (as elsewhere, but even more so there) depends IMO on keeping wide open eyes: outside of orphaned branches of fallen trees, chainsawed off the road, which kept my attention peeled, I once crossed paths with an empty timber truck barreling towards me-- this on a dirt road --, and twice ran across Hydro Québec crews working. Eyes as big as plates. It was fun driving.
