... and you are waiting for?

Steffi in Lowertown
Always a pleasure to spend a part of my Saturday night listening to great music!

6:14 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
Hi Steff, always glad to have you pop up (in) interactively again!

6:15 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steffi in Lowertown
I'm going to be soaking my feet in epsom salts, but the water is still too hot.

6:15 PM, December 11th, 2021
Wally
Always fun to join in & enjoy the music 👌

6:16 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
Always fun having you aboard (and enjoying the music) Wally.

Steffi, I find winter puts a damper on soaking in hot water... counterintuitively dries the skin and, well, I prefer my itches to be more emotional than visceral... let it get to room temp

6:20 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steffi in Lowertown
I put it as hot as I can, so that I can soak them for 45 minutes, then scrape off the dead skin, and then soak again to wash them off.

6:22 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
... that's my token input as aesthetician for tonight

6:22 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steffi in Lowertown
I try to mimic what the Viet ladies do.

6:23 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
OK, I lied... Steffi, that's too much work, if not too much information 😉

6:25 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steffi in Lowertown
I also like the thought of the magnesium in the epsom salts helping to purge the impurities from my system. Lord knows we all have a lot of impurities running wild.

6:26 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
i'm providing radio to cleanse the impurities of listeners' musical sensibility, so to speak... hope it's effective accompaniment for soaking... feet or otherwise

6:29 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steffi in Lowertown
For sure your show is effective accompaniment ... I tend to soak only during your show.

6:31 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
The station ID at the end of the first set ("good to the last drop") was produced by friend and CKCU alumnus Terry Martin. Thanks, Terry!

I like Julie Doiron a lot.

6:41 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
Julie's a hidden jem that deserves to be much less hidden

6:42 PM, December 11th, 2021

Thanks for including a Dave Kusworth song in the mix and as you know I'm a big fan & think more people should get to hear his music

6:55 PM, December 11th, 2021
Wally

7:14 PM, December 11th, 2021
Louisa
I did not know the Cinerama - Wedding Present connection - listened and heard a lot of The Wedding Present on BBC Radio 6. Nice

Hey Steve, missed you last week. Got me from half an hour ago and onwards. I'm sure the feet thing is pretty good, but a veg biriani and a pint is def cleansing my sole! Not to mention tuning in to you too.

7:18 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
Louisa, I'll have to check out the Out Lines... new to me

7:25 PM, December 11th, 2021

7:34 PM, December 11th, 2021

Steve Kirkland (host)
Maria Paternoster sings in Screaming Females, another new-to-me band I have to check out further...

7:44 PM, December 11th, 2021
IanJ
There's a great cover of Because the Night by Screaming Females/ Garbage collaboration. Anybody around here dig covers, hmm? Great show, DJ SK!

7:50 PM, December 11th, 2021
Dave JC
Glad you got a bit of Robbie in there. It was sad, sad news indeed, hearing Mr Robbie Shakespeare passing. I believe he was part of the best bass and drums duo, particularly in the reggae world. Sly and Robbie, besides being behind many of my favourite reggae outfits, Black Uhuru in particular, worked with many well know artist outside the reggae world, as well as producing. Only 68.

7:53 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
Thanks Ian! I saw that Garbage/SFs 10-inch earlier this week... hmmm

7:55 PM, December 11th, 2021
Louisa
Another random connection an all girl indie pop group Peaness from Chester that I saw at Sneaky Pete's in the Cowgate - playing in support with The Wedding Present this summer in UK - digging through the vaults of music memories

7:57 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
Only 68 indeed Dave. Damn. What a legacy though. A case could easily be made Robbie is the best known bassist in the world. That instrument has an entirely different and deserved reverence in the reggae context.

8:00 PM, December 11th, 2021
Steve Kirkland (host)
Peaness. Love it. Thanks Louisa.

8:01 PM, December 11th, 2021
