In memory of Nadine Gelineau

This program is in memory of Nadine Gelineau, who passed away Thursday April 7, 2016. It is music from 1979-1988, during which time she was a force at CKCU (both as a programmer/announcer and Program Director) and as club DJ/promoter at Banana Obscuri and Zinc. Chances are she played most of these songs at one time or another. I would have certainly heard some of them for the first time on her show. I'm not playing a lot of dance music tonight, but Trevor Walker paid tribute to the club DJ side of Nadine on Friday Drive (http://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/120/26690.html). Check it out. Joe Reilly paid tribute towards the end of his April 4 show (http://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/161/26629.html). Keep an eye out on the Playlists page of CKCU's website (http://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/search.html) to see who else may be paying homage to Nadine. There's an insightful tribute to Nadine on CKCU's homepage (http://www.ckcufm.com/node/697) from Allan Wigney. Also check out Julie Beun's obituary for Nadine (http://www.ottawasun.com/2016/04/07/obituary-nadine-gelineau-a-music-industry-mover-from-ottawa-to-la).

Great start that already brings back a lot of memories and no better way to remember Nadine than through music.

Hearts out to CKCU for this loss to the family. Loved Nadine's Friday afternoon show and sets at Club Zinc.

Does anyone remember when Sun Ra Arkestra and Dagmar Krause (separate shows) played in Hull? I believe they were both at Zinc, and I remember they were both amazing shows.

Nadine often played The Wild Swans first single on Zoo Records "Revolutionart Spirit" and she played a lot of great tunes that wouldn't get played anywhere else.

I was at the Sun RA show at Zinc. May have been more people on stage than in the audience. Incredible show none the less.

Dr. Luv and I are loving your show! So many great memories. Of course, our first date was at Zinc -- to see a band of drummers. Nadine was pretty surprised to see the two of us show up together!

Ian, it was good it wasn't too crowded for the Arkestra, they needed the extra room to parade around in...

As a teen in Gatineau late 70s-early 80s, I grew up on CKCU listening to Nadine (and folks such as Roch Parisien, etc.). It inspired myself and others to mould the programming for the first CRTC licence demand for CKUM-FM at Univ. de Moncton. RIP Nadine.

Thanks for all of your comments, and for listening in. I will have no time left to say goodbye on air. Goodbye. Peace, Nadine.
