Chris Toppa
Chris Toppa is one of the hottest newcomers on the German reggae scene. Ever since he fell in love with reggae music, it was his desire to travel to Jamaica and get in contact with the original culture and vibe. After finishing school, he arrived in Kingston in 2011 where he stayed for six months with the local artist Cassafaya. Their combination single „Give Thanks for Life“ was a hit on local radio stations, so that he became the second German artist to play at the legendary Sting Festival.
After arriving back home in Germany he started to focus on his career and toured a lot with solo shows and as tour support for big artists like Macka B, Capleton and Tarrus Riley.
The long awaited debut album "Connected" was released by Boomrush Productions in summer 2014 and reflects his creative work of the recent years.
Gavinchi
January 4th, 19 "eighty-sum'n" was a memorable day in Jamaican music history. This was the day that a famous female artist of the eighties (Shirley McLean) and a renown radio personality (Owen “O.B” Brown) brought a bouncing baby boy into the world, and they called him Gavin. From birth, Gavin has been submerged in and surrounded by music as not only his parents but many of his relatives and family friends have all been intimately involved in the music fraternity. Commercially; his cousin Toots from Toots and The Maytals (who many credit as coining the word Reggae in song) and the UK based Me&You have been the most successful of the lot thus far.
Gavin began showing much musical promise from as early as age 5 when he began playing the drums at an advanced/semi-professional level at the Jamaica School of Music under the tutelage of Sparrow Martin, Carl Ayton (who he later worked with) and many others. He began honing his stage craft in 1991 as a solo act by performing at school concerts, barbeques, etc. and was even a member of the Kingston College Chapel Choir. In 1995, Gavin made his first recording and landed his first live radio interview with top Jamaican disk jock Richie B on RJR.
No matter what, his style is always unmistakably Reggae at its core. Gavinchi has ushered in a new genre of Music; Sub- Stancehall and is its first valiant representative. Sub-Stancehall is Dancehall music with Substance, not mere rhymes and punch lines. The true substance of Authentic Reggae Music is alive and well in all his songs.
Kalcium
Roshane Forbes better known by his stage name “Kalcium” was born (March 30,1990) in St.Ann Jamaica , where he grew up with his two brothers and mother who cared for them as a single parent . As A young child Kalcium always had an infatuation with music. After seeing a live performance by his favorite artist, Assassin a.k.a Agent Sasco , Kalcium decided that he was going to take his musical endeavors seriously. In 2004 Kalcium recorded his first song entitled “Mamma Love” which detailed the struggles of single parenting but pinpointed it would never break up their bond.
Kalcium is the type of musician that caters to all types of audiences around the globe. With vocals smooth enough to rock a new born baby right to sleep or raunchy enough to keep a packed stadium on their heels.
Asante Amen
Asante Amen, born Gavin Walters, is a Reggae singer/songwriter. As a performer he has graced the stages of some of the most prestigious events in reggae music such as: Rebel Salute (JA), Irie Jamboree (USA), St. Mary Mi Come From (JA), the annual Dennis Brown & Gregory Isaacs Tribute concerts (JA) among many others. Asante Amen has performed all across Jamaica, in the United States of America, England, Italy, the Bahamas and Grenada. These accomplishments however are just the beginning for Asante as he has his gaze firmly locked on bringing his music & message all around the world.
For 2015 Asante Amen’s focus is set firmly on promoting his brand of reggae music and his upcoming album, CHAPTER. The album contains 10 tracks and will be released by Boom One Records out of the USA. For Asante, this album holds a special place in his heart as it contains songs from his own production label (High Priest Records). But more importantly, CHAPTER contains a body of work that Asante thinks will aptly explain to the world what kind of Reggae artist he is.
