Canoe song by Nancy White - nice. The buckskin jacket was a gift from the late Algonquin elder William Commanda. His wife sewed the buckskin and Wm C. hand carved buttons for it (using antlers if I remember rightly). Making something by hand shows respect and allows putting that energy into the gift itself. Ian Tanblyn also has more than one great songs featuring canoes and paddling. Also share Mr Allan's puzzlement at hearing the conversation with Bev when I first tuned in about 10 minutes ahead of the usual start time. I guess this special show needed more pre-planning?

Speaking of Nancy White, I remember a song by her from back in 1980s (?) on the old "Morningside" show. It was about urban dwellers seeing the 'extra stars' when they go out to the countryside at night. The chorus included the line "even us city folk know that the red one's Mars. Maybe do a collection (for the 40 minutes) of songs with the night sky as a theme?

Wonderful guest and anecdotes -- certainly "Curly Boy Stubbs" has made a huge contribution to music in this genre.

And let me add my thanks, Mary-Sue! By the way, Ian Tamblyn did appear on the Conoesongs CDs.
