Great hearing Mitch, who is my hero, and taught me so much about how to put on a folk festival,,first one in Lethbridge Alberta in the river valley, in 1980 with Stan,Garnet Rogers, Sylvia Tyson, Duck Donald, John Allan Cameron, Stringband, Connie Kaldor, Jim Post and many others. Mitch brought all these great performers to Alberta in a bus ! As a gesture of thanks I set up a workshop stage for him on 5 string banjo. In 1985 I was doing work in Winnipeg, went to the great Folk Festival to see Pete Seeger on the main stage. I was standing up front, Mitch emerged from the fading light of dusk and said.."Jim - get over here "! I hopped the fence and was immediately back stage and Mitch introduced me to Pete Seeger, so I had the life-altering privilege of standing in the wings 20 feet away as he did this whole set in front of 30 thousand people. After hours at the International Hotel ballroom, hundreds of Mitch's volunteers and all the performers gathered. Upright pianos were distributed around the room. We all sang until daybreak.
