Dick Damron had a long career that touched almost every aspect of country music: rockabilly, honky tonk, country, outlaw and all points in between. The following set is drawn from a Bear Family collection covering the years 1978-1989. He has left us a rich musical legacy which I will continue to sample in coming shows. |

| The Chancellor Records Story part 2: This continues the Philadelphia rock and roll ascendancy from 1957 to 1962 before the British Invasion changed the course of music in North America. It was founded by Bob Marcucci and Peter DeAngelis with Marcucci known as the master promoter. It was established in 1957 and took its name from the Chancellor Room, a restaurant where the business was originally housed. It was best known for its artists Frankie Avalon and Fabian but also included other artists like Johnny Burnette, Jodie Sands, Johnny Rivers, the Fabulous Four etc. The 1980 movie "The Idolmaker" was based on the life of Bob Marcucci. |
