Music Making and Listening in Pandemic Times

I’ve been working hard lately to prepare shows for you that you won’t hear anywhere else – that’s community radio! It’s been a year since our world changed, and I thought I’d take this opportunity to present some pandemic projects, so most of today’s show will be about presenting music and conversations that have sprung out of the pandemic. Even how we do our radio shows is an example of pandemic projects, as we are now all becoming much more versed in home studio preparation of our shows. We’re going to spend the 3rd hour today with a couple of musicians you’ve likely heard of before – Shawn Tavenier, who has on several occasions co-hosted my show with me, and Nick Gauthier, who for the last several years has played music with Shawn, and occasionally I’ve been lucky enough to have Nick in my shows as well. In the second hour, we’ll be listening in on Dave Kalil’s “Take a Break” show and chatting with Dave. Hour 1, I’ve asked Garry Greenland to join me in exploring a bit of a landmark bluegrass album coming out of the Ohio area – Industrial Strength Bluegrass. I also have a short chat with Denny Welburn about an Ottawa Valley project. So stay tuned, I’m going to start with my usual few jazz choices.
