After a battle with cancer, reggae giant Gregory Isaacs passed away on October 25, 2010. As popular as Bob Marley or Dennis Brown, Isaacs, who also known as the Cool Ruler and was also frequently referred to simply as Gregory, was best known for his lover's rock tunes, such as: My Number One, Tune In, Red Rose for Gregory and the epic, Night Nurse. But he could also hit Babylon hard, crafting great roots songs like: No Speech, Slavemaster, Universal Tribulation and Kingston 14. We pay tribute to him this morning with a song from each style. |
