It is funding drive time again. This is the time of year when CKCU-FM asks our listeners to 'Click and Contribute', or to, if you remain old school, 'Dial and Donate' on 613-520-3920 (for those out-of-town, our toll-free number is 1-877-520-3920). CKCU-FM is a registered charity, so donations are eligible for a tax receipt.
CKCU-FM is volunteer-based, listener-supported community-based radio, meaning: What you see in Ottawa is what you hear on 93.1 FM. There are an abundance of programs on the radio station that speak directly to the different communities that so dynamically enrich Ottawa.
The Saturday Morning program, which is hosted by a collective, including Pat Moore, Alan Surmachynski and myself, features an incredible range and depth of music from the very new to the very old covering reggae, blues, soul, jazz, gospel, latin, cajun, celtic, country, folk, old-time, bluegrass, world and more; and, it all mixes and mingles with a healthy staple of local music.
And it does too today; but, it will also, by necessity, feature a little more, or, depending on your perspective, a lot more talking than usual. Don't forget you can always, because of the funding that is generated during the drive, listen again through CKCU-FM's On-Demand archive feature. And because I will be doing a great deal of talking during the show, you can, as it was once gleefully described to me as the best feature of On Demand, scan through the parts where I talk and just listen to the music!
