Friday Drive
Friday September 12th, 2025 with Trevor Walker
[DiscoNotDiscoLabWarmUp]

Happy Friday “Drivers” fam! Welcome to this week’s episode. Back again with some jazzy funky Disco Boogie Soul vibes to get my set in order for this weekend's shenanigans. Trying to dig a little deeper to get into some of the more left leaning Disco and Boogie vibes from the mid 70's through early 80's and hopefully touching on some jazzy fusion, a touch of punk funk and new wave but there will definitely be a healthy dose of slightly more obscure uptempo dance floor soul, funk and boogie to fill the gaps on today’s show. Full disclosure that even though this is supposed to be a deeper dig that I can’t promise not to throw in the odd hit that hasn’t been previously featured on the show. Starting the show off on a mid tempo to get you all unwound from this past week of madness and taking it up to get you all worked up for your weekend! Happy listening, thank you all for taking the time and hope you enjoy this week’s offering.

Since releasing their debut EP in 2024, Smelloship’s subspace signals have been detected on radios around the globe — including CBC’s Saturday Night Jazz and All in a Day. They've opened for Parliament Funkadelic and collaborated live with artists like Moon Hooch.

What a fabulous playlist this week, Trev. Starting with Grace Jones, one of a kind artist. And one of the greatest summertime bands ever......Earth Wind and Fire. A friend of mine had their cd permanently locked in his Grand Prix car stereo and he only played that album the entire time he owned that car !! September is just soooooo classic !!!

Hey Neil DGD thank you for the kind words! EWF are legendary and I was chuffed to realize I'd never played September on the show and was able to drop it! Love the story about them being the driving soundtrack of your friend's car, awesome! Grace goes without saying and "Pull Up.." is a personal fav, hence it's the theme song for the show. Enjoy!
