Welcome to this week’s episode.
We’ve lost another icon only this week, on August 6th, with the passing of the legendary American pianist, band leader and musician, Eddie Palmieri at 89 years young.
Best known for his Latin-Jazz approach including extended jazz influenced solos over Latin rhythms.
Born December 15, 1936, in New York City, Eddie, along with his late brother Charlie Palmieri, was one of the fundamental players in the evolution of latin jazz and Salsa.
I’m including some links to his discography and bio as well as some live performances for anyone who’s interested in taking a deeper dive.
We’ll be focusing on my limited discography of Palmieri’s work in the first hour and perhaps a little into hour two of this week’s show taken from some of his more experimental work with some Salsa, Latin Jazz, funk & soul infused sounds.
In hour two let’s take a quick trip into some summer Disco vibes spanning the mid ’70’s - early ’80’s as I dig through some of the selections uncovered to be featured this Sunday for DiscoLab’s first day patio party!
