Artist Bios:
Cee:
Christian, widely known as Cee, has been immersed in the world of dance since the age of three. His journey began with the Philippine Dance Troupe of Ottawa, where he honed his skills in the rich cultural dances of the Philippines. In 2001, he discovered his passion for bboying (breakdancing), which became the focus of his artistic journey.
What began as an interest inspired by music videos grew into a lifelong dedication. Cee traveled extensively to learn from various teachers and mentors, developing his craft and personal style. Over two decades later, his expertise has led him to perform across Canada, the U.S., and Asia. His career highlights include appearances on TV commercials and shows such as So You Think You Can Dance Canada, as well as modeling and being featured on product packaging.
Cee has performed alongside notable artists including Masia One, Talib Kweli, and the Beastie Boys. He has also participated in the National Breakdance Forum in the Yukon for four consecutive years and contributed to social initiatives through his involvement with Blueprint for Life, using Hip Hop as a tool for community empowerment.
His passion for dance has taken him to Southeast Asia, where he has taught, performed, and explored countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Cee’s approach emphasizes continuous learning and sharing his knowledge and experience with fellow dancers and students.
From studio rehearsals to international stages and community outreach, Cee’s journey is a testament to his dedication, growth, and impact in the world of dance.

This early exposure laid the foundation for his unique style and expertise as a DJ.
John began his professional DJ career in the summer of 2022, making an immediate impact on Ottawa’s nightlife scene. His first gig led to two residencies at prominent local nightclubs, BabaBar and JTM. Since then, John has built a reputation as both a resident DJ at top clubs in the city and a skilled performer for private events. Through his work with Extreme Entertainment, he’s brought his energy and expertise to weddings, corporate parties, and more. Noteworthy clients include The Conservative Party of Canada, CF Rideau Centre, and Shopify. John has also performed at prestigious venues such as the National Arts Centre and the Museum of History.

This year, the event promises to captivate audiences on a national stage. Since 2020, the CMAs have brought together artists, music entrepreneurs, businesses, and fans, showcasing creativity, excellence, and innovation in the music industry across 13 award categories.

Nominees will be announced on Friday, January 17th from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at a free in-person event at the National Arts Centre’s Peter A Hendorrf Place featuring live music by DJ Memetic and opportunities to connect with nominees and fellow music-lovers. Media are encouraged to attend, all are welcome.

Once again, fans will have a chance to make their voice heard with public voting for the 5 categories opening on January 17th, 2025 at 12:00 PM ET until February 14th, 2025 at 5:00 PM ET. Votes can be cast by visiting ottawamic.com/cma. Only 1 vote per email address will be accepted.

Celebrating 10 years as Ottawa’s non-profit music organization this year, OMIC will facilitate events during the inaugural Capital Music Week (CxMW) from May 20-25, 2025, a week-long celebration of showcases, professional development, networking, and business-to-business opportunities. Ways to get involved and CxMW events will be announced in the coming months.

Love those beats ! Thanks. There is now a doc on youtube from Chicago TV, called House Music: A Cultural Revolution. The beginnings, including an interview with Frankie Knuckles. You probably know all this. I am learning... Doc is made by women. Well made.

I actually saw Ustad Sultan Khan perform with Zakir Hussain in the mid 90s. Musée des civilisations, in Hull. Full house. In the auditorium. It was deep and slow. 8h PM show. I dozed off during the performance and when i woke up, Zakir Hussain was glaring at me from the stage. I felt like an idiot, not the first time...

robert p in gatineau I've seen the doc, it's quite illuminating and very well done. Marshall Jefferson is a House Music icon. You're very fortunate to have caught Ustad Sultan Khan perform live. Your experience is very familiar to me as I had the same result of dozing off when I caught Ravi Shankar. He had comically remarked at the beginning of his performance, that certain modes of the show might influence some members of the audience to doze off and I observed the heads of about 30 - 50 % of the people seated's heads nodding off before I suffered the same experience. The mystic of the power of music is magical.
