Happy Friday Drivers family and welcome to this week’s show! Digging in the digital drives this week and doing an impromptu warm up set for this weekend’s happenings. Art In Strathcona Park 2024
@Strathcona Park
Event:
https://www.facebook.com/share/fhAJzFj9g41hEU4H/

Join us for a day in the park and enjoy one of the area’s most enjoyable fresh-air event featuring many talented artists and artisans. On Saturday, August 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. established artists and artisans and undiscovered talents will come together to sell their work directly to the public and to raise public awareness about mental illness. Art in Strathcona Park also offers jewellery and pottery, to name just a few, and will also feature a silent auction and a BBQ - something for just about everyone!
Art in Strathcona Park is a fundraising and public awareness event sponsored by Mental Illness Caregivers Association (MICA).
Did you know that in any given year, 1 in 5 Canadian experiences a mental health problem or illness? The sad fact is that we are all touched in some way by mental health issues through a family member, a friend or a colleague. Unfortunately, the reality is that public misconceptions, fear and the stigma associated with having a mental illness may discourage people from seeking help for themselves or their family member.
Set in an idyllic location that draws many visitors and locals, Strathcona Park is located between the Rideau River and Range Road, south of Laurier Avenue East. Regardless of whether or not you're in the market for original art, or jewellery or other craft, Art in Strathcona Park is a pleasant way to spend a summer Saturday.

Expect all the good vibes, music, visuals, Photo Booth, dancing and hope to see you all out in full Disco attire with the moves to boot.

DiscoLab is people coming together and feeling free to the funk in the spirit of the mid 1970’s to early 1980’s.
We encourage everyone to take it to the next level by dressing up in your finest disco gear and get ready to GET DOWN to some of the best music and vibes Ottawa has to offer.
Combined, Alex & Trevor have been rocking dancefloors and collecting music for more than 60 years!

DJs:
D-Luxx Brown:
D-Luxx Brown is a Queer Punjabi DJ, born and raised in Montreal who is coming out of retirement to bring you the tunes that many of you have been missing. In 2011, she and a few friends co-founded the Queer Mafia. An organization that raised money for various Queer organizations throughout the Ottawa/Gatineau region but also did a monthly take-over of the former Ottawa infamous club, Babylon.
This party is the first comeback for the Queer Mafia and what better way to make a comeback with pals from Basscamp.
D-Luxx Brown will take you down memory lane to 90’s hip hop and dancehall. She’ll be mixing in some bumpin’ new tunes and also infusing some Punjabi flava! In the past, she’s DJ’d at various festivals (including Capital Pride) and DJ’d for various charity events throughout the city. She’s also DJ’d with A Tribe Called Red, Yes Yes Y’all and others.
DASA:
DASA is a local Ottawa DJ/producer and Basscamp founder/resident DJ who got started with music playing bass in progressive metal bands. Growing up in the 90s, his influences draw from the sounds of classic video games, punk, grunge and metal. With a focus on Deep, Progressive and Techno genres - he aims to bring people together, make them feel and make them move.
He made his debut with MAP (Music.Art.Ppl) in Ottawa, and has since graced stages across Ottawa (City At Night, Mercury Lounge), Montreal and Toronto. He, along with his beautiful partner Stacey, run Basscamp - a local event group that aims to capture the essence of some of their favorite festivals, creating welcoming experiences where people feel free and safe to dance, express themselves and make genuine connections.
He will be returning to the festival circuit in summer 2024 with dates at Sonic Springs, Summerdaze, Black Rabbit Campout, Front Rite Republic as well as River & Sky Festivals!
