Happy Friday and New Year Drivers! My friend Irfan aka Boogaloo Jones is an up coming local DJ who has been quite active in recent years in the underground Ottawa party scene and is making moves in Montreal as well and has been working the angle in both cities. He recently asked if I would be interested in airing one of his mixes on the Friday Drive and after a listen I was sold. So on today’s drive we’re checking out selections by Boogaloo Jones, which I think is a pretty killer DJ handle. Enjoy the ride! Boogaloo Jones is one of the baddest dudes around. Striking fear in the hearts of sucka DJs, he gets busy on the wheels of steel. The sharpest dressed cat in any scene, you might get a paper cut if you brush up against some of his funky threads. With the smoothest of mixes, he plays a wide range of genres from Jazz to Jungle and everything in between. A common face around the Ottawa scene, he has since relocated to Montreal, where he's linked up with the Fellas Q-tips crew. A DJ Collective, with whom he travels around marauding for ears, as they port their wax to several venues around the city weekly. Together they've played with local and international artists like Pascal Project, Moniquea, XL Middleton and Cody Currie to name a few. Catch him with his band of hoodlums and their travelling discotheque, Disco '93. An homage to all the DJs that made this culture possible, Disco '93 is a party where the history of club culture is explored by combining fashion and music. The Party People come dressed in their best 70s-90s outfits to recreate and blend several eras of raving, while the DJs do the same.
