After asking some vital questions – "Who's gonna stand up and save the earth? Who's gonna say that she's had enough?" – the song ends with a call to action, reminding us that, "This all starts with you and me!" Kingston-based director and arranger Andy Rush is known for his brilliant work in leading participatory choirs at events such as the Blue Skies Festival and the Ottawa Folk Festival. His 5-part vocal arrangement of "Who's Gonna Stand Up?" includes a children's chorus representing the future generations on whose behalf the song is being sung. Algonquin poet, storyteller and traditional teacher Albert Dumont (Kitigan Zibi) will welcome all participants. Ottawa musicians Ann Downey, Alrick Huebener, Tim Aylesworth and Jack Pyl will accompany the choir. No speeches will be made! |
