My car was kept in the 'shop' longer than planned, yesterday, so I put the winter boots on the mountain bike, and went to see a show anyway. Getting home, it was blowing stiffly, and wet from the rain and snow, but only cool. But this morning!... And I have to go out and get my car at some point. Welcome to winter cycling!

No, actually, it's fun most of the time. I've got all the gear, several pairs of gloves, mitts too, etc. A few reservations: it can get too cold (rare) or really windy while cold, and sometimes snow can come down slushy and miserable. Outside those conditions, it's simply cold-weather cycling -- not that different from cross-country skiing. And on a regular mountain bike, if you know your stuff (and I do), it is fun! Bike couriers agree...
