Leif has been on this program every couple of years since emerging with his debut album back in 2010, to talk about his latest recording and usually an upcoming concert. This time we talked about his fantastic 2024 release Revelation and his upcoming concert at the Bronson Centre on Thursday, February 27th. We talk extensively about the lovely arrangements and pristine production on Revelation. The use of strings on this recording puts several of the songs into the stratosphere - notably on the epic Sunset Boulevard Expedition which features an orchestra, a children's choir, spoken word, whistling, harp and other touches that make this cinematic song feel like a sonic balm that gives me goosebumps every time. Leif gives credit to some of the amazing players who joined him in making Revelation and tells us who will be performing with him here in Ottawa on the 27th. The last time we spoke, Leif revealed that he is reticent about discussing the meaning of his songs and while I try to respect that during this interview, I do press him a couple of times about some really intriguing lines/phrases used in these songs. Leif is always thoughtful and gracious and it was great to reconnect with him for the show today.
